The 70-year-old pedestrian was rushed to hospital but couldn’t be saved.

A man has been charged after a pedestrian was killed by a car which allegedly then drove off in southwest Sydney.

The 70-year-old man was hit by a car at the intersection of Belmont Rd and Canterbury Rd in Glenfield about 4.15pm on Monday.

He was rushed to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition and died later that night.

On Tuesday afternoon police searched a home on Kokoda Pl in Glenfield where officers seized a silver ute and arrested a 25-year-old man.

He was charged with negligent driving occasioning death, fail to stop and assist after vehicle impact causing death, and drive while disqualified.

The man was refused bail to appear before Campbelltown Local Court on Wednesday.
