The 57-year-old was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A cyclist has been seriously injured in a crash with an SUV at a busy intersection near a major shopping centre.

The rider, 57, and a blue Land Rover Discovery collided at Stirling Rd and Barnfield Rd in Claremont in Perth’s western suburbs on Saturday, May 31, WA Police said.

Emergency services raced to the scene near Claremont Quarter at about 9.45am before taking the cyclist to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital with serious injuries, including broken bones.

“He screamed like I haven’t heard someone scream before,” witness Markus Kern told 7NEWS.

“I just couldn’t believe it.”

Police said the Land Rover driver, a 60-year-old woman, was uninjured.

An investigation is underway and police appealed for information on Wednesday, 11 days after the emergency.
